Working on a magazine, with issues to plan months in advance and schedules to arrange even earlier, there’s precious little opportunity to reflect. 2006 saw numerous events in the dance calendar worthy of mention: last month the fourth series of “Strictly Come Dancing” came to an end, still topping the TV charts, and the previous month the 32nd British National Dance Championships wowed audiences at Blackpool (page 10) as did the 81st British Open earlier in the year. London provided the base for Big Dance, with events taking place across the UK for an entire week in July, and the capital also hosted Move It 06 in April, which proved such a success that this year the plans have doubled in size (see news). Speaking of Move It, I can’t help but look ahead and let you in on a little secret – Dance Today will be hosting a social dance all of it’s own at the event. More details will follow, but until then, get practising ready to show us what you can do, and have a happy New Year!
