DANCE TODAY!
Dance Today! April 2005

By the looks of it social and Ballroom dancing is truly taking off. Yet another spectacular theatre Ballroom show will be put on in September playing full weeks in regional theatres and there’s even the chance to get involved yourself. Check out our news pages for more details. Ever dreamt of doing it but never actually dared to make your hobby your profession? Miranda Piercy has the story of housewife and mother Suzanne White who has done just that and is now a qualified Latin and Ballroom teacher (pages 26-28).

With the temperatures and our need to replace lost liquids rising, what exactly should dancers be drinking? Rachel Holland has the low-down on water versus various energy drinks for you on pages 28-30. And for those of you who can’t wait to get the summer wardrobe out, yet are in desperate need of some new, comfortable matching dance shoes (and, really, is there ever a time when a girl is not in desperate need for new shoes?) in this month’s Dance Boutique feature, Julie Burns introduces and recommends the latest footwear trends and tricks.

Plus, of course the latest reports on the dance world in our Dancescene section from Middlesex to Beijing as well as new variations and Sequence dances.

Sylvia Boerner

This month’s front cover shows the French Hip Hop Company Companie Kafig, which will tour the UK this month. See also news and listings pages.
