Due to the enormous number of events and competitions happening over the final months every year, and a limited number of pages in each issue, we had to hold over Bryan Allen’s report on the 52nd International Championships, which took place at the end of October. It features on pages 16-21 this month. You will by now know that the Professional Ballroom was won by Timothy Howson and Joanne Bolton, who took the title from retired champions Christopher Hawkins and Hazel Newberry. But, whoever is still trying to find out who was first in the Amateur Ballroom in order to enter our competition (see our December issue p. 58) here’s your chance. Don’t forget the deadline for entries is January 10, so hurry!
Need a break after those hectic end of the year weeks? Why not read Judy Cree’s report on her latest dance cruise for some inspiration, or, check out our listings for dance breaks closer to home!
On a sad note, we have to report that another Ballroom name has passed away last month. A tribute to Syd Mallett will be published in our February issue. Harry Smith-Hampshire and Leslie Howell are remembered here on pages 30-31.
Also, in next month’s issue, you can look forward to the report on the British Closed Championships and our Makeover Magic Competition as well as the usual goodies.
Hope you have a great start into 2005.
