The BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing programme has been a hot topic not only for dancers and dance fans but also for many non-dancers during the past few months. Therefore, everyone will be delighted to hear a second series is planned already and likely to be broadcast in October. We shall, of course, keep you posted on that. With opinions varying immensely (see also our letters page), we thought we would get an insider’s point of view and have talked to judge Len Goodman (see pages 14-19).
Also, in this issue, we introduce siblings Steven and Gemma Arnold, who have just left the Youth ranks and together torpedoed into the last 92 Modern Amateurs at this year’s British Open in Blackpool. With their determination we will surely see and hear more of them in the future.
Declining someone a dance when invited is not an easy thing to do. For all of those social dancers among you who have had difficulties in this area, fear no more. Rachel Holland has very useful tips to deal with this issue in a manner that’s acceptable for all parties on pages 26-27.
And last but not least, do check out our event listings and news in order to make the most of those lovely summer days!
